Microsoft introduced Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) within WIndows 98 Second Edition. ICS allows 2 or more computers on a small network to connect to the internet via a single modem, ISDN dial-up or broadband connection. The computer running running ICS will act as the gateway computer and will allocate other computers on the network an IP address using DHCP. The gateway computer will always have an IP address of 192.168.0.1 Configuration of the other computers is done by using a floppy disk created when ICS was installed on the gateway computer. Note: When connected to the internet your network is unprotected. Please visit my Network Security section for advice on how to make your network more secure.
